Why I Dumped Theistic…

DISCLAIMER:
What lies herein is based upon my personal views, my perspective, and lending of my reasoning to explain why I no longer identify with Satanism, and particular terms or groups of people. What is stated here; is not directed towards anyone in particular, nor is it my goal to hurt anybody’s feelings. But, if you take offense, maybe you need to step outside from yourself and take an honest look at the bigger picture and let that sink in for a bit. You might also need to rethink the titles you identify.

Many of you have noticed that I no longer Identify online with titles such as Theistic Satanist or Theistic Satanism and that I have disassociated with most who glorify themselves under these titles. There are several reasons why over recent months, I have rethought and rebranded, and I will gladly share the core of it here with you.

For quite some time, I have been highly disappointed and also; annoyed with the state of Theistic Satanism as presented online. Nothing has changed since its first inception into the realms of the internet, back in 2003, a heavy dark cloud filled with keyboard “Satanists” trolls, instigators of drama, and a plethora of egos clashing. As it still stands, most everyone; is seeking Satanic fame of some sort. Many Satanists, both from the past, and present are still trying to be the next Anton LaVey (theistic version) while denying his creditability. Something more that hasn’t changed from the past, and what really sickens me, is that many are using and stabbing everyone else just for the sake of amusement, and they do it under the guise of Satanism, in the name of Satan. Only a handful of those titling as Theistic Satanists; appear to legitimately; want to learn, share, and practice. However, they are misguided by the ones who are presenting the Path. Theistic Satanism online becomes boring really fast with all the same old demonic images, Satanized Baphomets, and anti-Christian , anti-everything posts circulating. For me, it appears that Theistic Satanists haven’t shook off that “Us vs Them” attitude, and with this breeds more hate, discrimination, along with never ending false information spewed and rehashed time over again.

On the flip side of this clown show, some presenters of Theistic Satanism have taken the plunge and have begun preaching how Satan loves everybody. They preach that Satan cares for you and dictate what Satan’s thoughts and sentiments are towards you; for example, “Satan doesn’t want you to celebrate non-Satanic holidays with your family and friends” or “such and such is an insult to Satan”. Love, healing, and kindness all in Satan’s name, with subtle nuances of dictating what Satan wants, thinks, and how to practice your Satanism. This new wave of Theistic Satanism is no different than; the Christian sermons they claim to hate. The same speel, omit Jesus and insert Satan. This new gentler, inclusively kind and helpful Satan is being presented by those who are trying to create a Satanic community, involving anyone who identifies as a Theistic Satanist. It’s one thing to want to be part of a communal hub such as an online group of like minded individuals, but.; these love and light Satanists are really pushing to lump everyone one titling as a Theistic Satanist under one communal umbrella. At the least they agree that not everyone will view Satan in the same light but they blindly believe that everyone can get along under one big theistic umbrella, even if they don’t like one another. In a perfect world, this could happen-maybe! But, that wouldn’t be Satanism. What I don’t like about this, especially, is if a Theistic Satanist holds this view or not, the Satanist still is lumped under the communal umbrella just for publicly presenting as a Theistic Satanist. The peace and love Satanists will still consider you as one of them, and this is how you will be viewed, like it or not.

So, we got in one corner Satanists (theists) that are anti-religion, anti-almost everything, upholding the negative Satanic stereotype, with the majority only titling as Satanists for shits and giggles to have fun and create chaos online. And, in the opposing corner we got the “Satanic unity, peace and love” Satanists wanting to bring everyone together under one hub (online) and call it a community. Think about how this clashes. Ponder upon this oxymoron for a moment, will you.

From my perspective, Theistic Satanism, based on the outline I have shared, will never be taken seriously. This being no fault but the lump majority who claim and present it. The harder they try, the harder and faster they keep falling. When there are too many chefs in the kitchen, nothing gets done, especially if neither of those chefs know how to cook to begin with.
To make things worse, in my opinion, is how confusing all this might be to someone new upon the Path or seeking to learn about Satanism in general. Let us not leave out the fact that both sides of Theistic Satanists preach hate and discrimination towards Christians, philosophical Satanists and those claiming to be atheists. Maybe this is the common ground between them; it certainly isn’t their belief in deity.

Taking all this drama and chaos into consideration, is a big part why I have disassociated myself from the title Theistic Satanist and Theistic Satanism. As a professional and in respect to myself, I cannot subject or affiliate my name as a serious author with such a circus act. In with what I share, I hope to inspire people upon their journey. I don’t wish to lead them down a rabbit hole or give them the wrong impression by using a title holding such a negative egregore. I have always been a devotee of the Devil and have always titled myself a witch. It has only been during recent years that I have publicly used the term Theistic Satanist, and in doing so it has drawn a lot of negative and unsavory types into my following. It also has brought me much unwanted attention in the negative. I have never experienced such of this nature within my following prior, nor have I ever experienced theft (copycats) , immature behavior, and such immense jealousy thrown my way before associating with that title (from someone who has come from the modelling world, that says a lot).

In generalizing, Theistic Satanism has proven to be nothing more than an adolescent rebellious branch of Christianity, and a micro-managed religion. Theistic Satanists haven’t advanced, haven’t authenticated Theistic Satanism since they first started congregating online. Even now with their talks of unity and attempts for online community, you can clearly see the underlining deceit among them. With several waiting to surface their strategic attack upon peers. Actually, this masked war has already begun. It was war and confusing then and continues to be now. Rather than getting better it has worsened, becoming weaker and laughable with (count one one hand) a rare few who keep trying to go against the grain and make it into something respectable-All the power to you!

As a scholar, I can no longer look the other way and pretend to un-see and un-hear; all the ridiculous false information ( purposely or ignorantly) circulate among Theistic Satanists. At this point, I respect very few authentic, non preachy, open-minded Theistic Satanists, who share from their personal experience without trying to organize anything, or micro-manage Satanism in anyway. I have spent several days and hours in meditation and contemplation. I asked the Devil what is the best direction to take and if I should continue to stay connected to certain people. He has edged me towards my final decision. Lucifer reminded me about why I walk the path, oaths I’ve taken, and that the large part of my practice lies in my roots of the Old Craft and its folklore of the Devil and why I write about Him as the Old One.

During this period in recent months I experienced an encounter with something from beyond our universe (details about this encounter in an upcoming blog). What I will state here and now; is that this encounter opened my eyes to a deeper view on spirituality. It has showed me the bigger picture. This experience taught me to look outside the narrow box I had dug myself into (confines of Theistic Satanism) and how in recent years this had blinded me from truly moving forward to where I personally need to succeed. I have also come to the conclusion that authentic Devil worshipers are those who would not subject themselves to the restrictions of any religion, not even one calling itself Theistic Satanism. A Devil worshiper would and should remain in the shadows, keeping their practice personal rather than exposing it to a world that will never understand it. True Devil worship, doesn’t reach out to the masses, nor does it teach and preach to random strangers on the internet. A true Devil worshiper, keeps their connection personal, unique between they and their god.

To conclude, I have always been an animist and will always honor the Earth and the Devil. But, the Devil I honor is not the Christian Satan. The terms you might see me use online, Heretical Witch, and Heretical Witchy Woman, state exactly my stance, being one in league with the Devil without having to subject to terms linked to groups or people of an unsavory caliber. A heretic by origin is a person who thinks for themselves, does not follow. Heretical, has come to be known as one who acts not in favor of the church and who holds opinions at odds with what is generally accepted. As a Traditional/Folkloric Witch, I find these terminologies suite me just fine and using them doesn’t take from the fact that the Devil is with me or I with Him.

In my strong opinion, Satanism, actual Satanism, is what is presented in the teachings of Anton Szandor LaVey and the Church of Satan. Anything claiming to be Satanism that is independent from the Church of Satan is nothing more than a parody. LaVey and the Church of Satan were the first to bring Satanism forward into the modern world. They set the grounds for what everyone calling themselves a Satanist today, including those calling themselves Theistic Satanists, base their practice upon, even if they realize it or not. The majority of Theistic Satanists incorporate what LaVey has given, such as, ritual structure, demonic hierarchy, satanic phrases and words, into their practice, yet remain ignorant of this fact.

Some Food for Thought:

To invite Him into your life as Satan doesn’t make you a Theistic Satanist. Nor do you need to subject yourself to the dogma and drama of a “religion” such as Theistic Satanism, in order to honor, worship, or work with the Devil and whatever name you chose to acknowledge Him by. Don’t force yourself to join a Satanic group or follow someone to honor Him. I wish that authentic Devil worshipers would stop clinging and fighting for titles such as Theistic Satanist. Allow themselves to break free, expand their knowledge outside the confines of Theistic Satanism and aim their focus on their practice and connection with the Devil in all of His guises. Satan doesn’t need a religion. Religion restricts, dictates, preaches, threatens, and deceives. Religion takes you away from your personal connection with deity. Satan opposes religion. If Satan is freedom, if He has given free will, then why would He want His devotees to create a religion? Why would Satan want His chosen to form clergy, conducting as the Church does?

  1. I think I understand what you’re getting at. I view my ” Theistic Satanism ” as a form of spirituality instead of a religion. I have no desire to join any Satanic organization. To me it’s just an individual path.
I think alot of Satanism online is contradictory. There’s only a few people whose works I admire and they usually don’t agree.

    1. Thanks for reading and for your input. I like your take on it. You’re one of the rare few Theistic Satanists who are authentic with yourself and your practice. One of the rare ones I’ve mentioned herein.
      Satanic Blessings to you Rhonda.

  2. Its understandable Kindra and yes way too many wanna be Satanist out there and many want to be the next Anton Lavey lol! Yea im starting to see the fake satanic communitues are slowly dying out cuz satan also told me i dont need no groups and best to learn from him and on my own and also with some legit books, especially from the cos I like their satanic philosophy and their knowledge. I make my own rules and i do things my way when doing rituals etc. Im glad satan guided me to be underground and to only share a very small select few that deserve to know but overall I remain underground.

    Ave satanas Kindra🖤🤘🏻😈

    1. Thank you ArcaneShadowWolf, glad you appreciated this, and thank you for sharing. As you know there are very few groups/orgs that are authentic. As I mentioned, my next post will be about the one I am associated with.

    2. I think that part of the problem arises from the word “Satanism” itself. I get why that name is used (sort of), and also that at the the principals espoused are mostly sound, but the fact that “Satan” is so controversial, and a trigger to most Christians, attracts people who want to cause controversy and/or who who are opposed to Christianity and only tangentially care about the philosophy of Satanism itself.

      1. Hi dansumption, thanks for sharing. I agree. The only Satanists I’ve noticed who give a damn about actual Satanic philosophy and who are title as Satanists with sincerity, haven’t been those who fall under the umbrella of Theistic Satanism. It’s the Theistic Satanists who jump on the “Satanic” bandwagon for controversy, being all anti-Christian. They tend to become triggered by one another also and end up attacking others titling as Satanists. You’ve made mention of some good points and again thanks, I appreciate you for sharing (:

  3. Satan wants us to grow upon His Path. It is regrettable that so many so-called “Satanists” are letting His Satanic Majesty down. There’s too much self-interest in an organization. Other priorities tend to take over the one fundamental aim of simply worshipping Satan. Organisations and people complicate things unnecessarily while actually what’s really needed is quite simple: raw Devil Worship. That’s all it is. It’s supposed to be direct and to the point. Maybe, when something is actually simple, people feel uncomfortable with this and try to add layers of complexity. But that takes the freedom away that is supposed to be inherent in TRUE Devil Worship. We need to think less. Get on with communicating with Satan more regularly and get out there and live our lives as best as we can, always trying to improve one’s abilities, potential etc. If we do, then we’ll make Satan proud. Then we’ll show that through our worship of Him we do improve our personal “record”. Then we’ll show it is worthwhile to worship Him. I totally agree with you, Kindra. No need going around declaring our beliefs. Secrecy per se has a certain inherent power, I feel. It contributes to our Satanic practice. Again, it is an unnecessary distraction going round telling everyone I’m a Satanist. Id’ say “just get on with living your life and feel damn proud of being one of Satan’s Chosen”. Again, quite simple. Maybe too simple for some, and that’s why they need to create drama and complicate things. They can’t allow themselves to be “free” in the real sense of the word. As you said, Kindra, it’s all about freedom and that’s why we don’t need to constrict things by establishing a religion with dogma, rules etc. HAIL FREEDOM. HAIL, SATAN!

    1. Ave Titus! Thank you for taking the time to share. I am happy that you appreciated this post. I fully agree with your statement about secrecy. There is power in secrecy and silence. It creates mystery and that mystery builds power. The best trick the Devil played was to convince humanity that he didn’t exist. We know that he does and that is what matters. Not everyone can handle such knowledge nor make a connection with Him. One of my theories is that all this drama created in Satan’s name is from those who fear Him, who will never be able to fully understand.

  5. To me… This is so much progress. As you probably know, I’m against the term “Satanism” as a whole. Couple that with the mislabeling of theistic/atheistic which makes more sense as internal/external, and it’s a ticket for people to just call any old thing satan-ism. It’s no wonder so many miss the whole point.

Anyway I’ve come to simply call it Devilry… However heretical is an extremely apt description as well

I’m still hoping to grow without becoming cynical, and explosive…knowing full well, it will make no difference if I do. There has been a positive element, I’ve made some great friends that I can discuss topics and issues without hearing the usual defending of their beliefs. These friends provide an environment where we can all duscuss, learn. and grow. BTW…thank you!

    1. Hails John! Thank you for reading. I am happy that this has helped you, lending some food for thought. Know that the Satanism you see with all the drama and fighting isn’t real Satanism, nor do you need Satanism or be a Satanist to honor the Devil. But, if you sincerely feel a pull towards Satanism (to be a Satanist), May I suggest, following and reading material from the Church of Satan and what LaVey put out. If you are a theist, simply take a spiritual approach to it. The CoS is the base of Satanic philosophy and mindset. I also highly recommend the Spiritual Satanist website + blog created by Venus Satanas. She presents Satanism as independent and solitary. The links to her sites are on my “Enhance Your Journey” page, tab at the top right. I also highly recommend the Brotherhood of Satan. They are drama free and theistic. The Brotherhood is the only Satanists practicing what they present, in the offline world. Their links are also found in my “Enhance Your Journey” page, I will be speaking about them in my next blog post. I find that any other sources are preachy and churchy also the sources where all the negativity and drama gather under.
All the best upon your journey brother.

I see a lot of antichristian talk and proclaiming that we are each a god unto ourselves but nothing is fundamentally different . Within the realm of Thiestic Satanism and it doesn’t appear to be growing as a belief system

    1. Salutations Jae Thank you for sharing and it seems that you relate totally to this blog post. Theistic Satanism hasn’t advanceddifferenttts inception into the internet realms in 2003. It actually has worsened. It is an embarrassment and a joke. There is a good reason why after all these years it still isn’t taken seriously or respected. As I stated in this blog post, Satan doesn’t need a religion. It is the polar opposite of what He stands for. The entire notion that there’s a war in heaven and a hateful divide between angels, demons, the Christian God and Satan is ridiculous. If Satanists actually studied the variants of religion they would find conflicting myths such as the version that states that God and the Devil are partners with the Devil’s job to test humanity. It’s funny to think that many Theistic Satanists play into the whole us vs them when it comes to the bible yet claim that Satan is primordial. If He is then why put so much stock into the biblical texts or pay any attention to any religion or spirituality that is not of your belief. What bothers me most is the fact that Theistic Satanists are striving to achieve what the Church and other religions have-Talk about following the herd Lol! Most seem to hold a herd mentality within Satanism in general. Basically, most are not executing what they’re preaching Lol!
Thanks for your support of the Devil’s Coven podcast. I am planning on doing another podcast eventually soon. Something totally different. I’ll be announcing it here and on my author’s FB page when it’s up.

  9. This blog resonates with me so much because I’ve had these same thoughts for a long time. Most self-proclaimed Satanists, especially on the Internet, are nothing more than intellectually defeated children in adult bodies who are essentially “renegade Christians” in the sense where they still believe in Christianity but make up their own rules to rebel against the orthodoxy. They think Satan is a mindless rebel like them. These children have so much to learn.

In general, theistic Satanism is nothing more than a social club for socially inept people.

Now some dum wanna be satanists that dictate satan wants them to do this and that and satan doesnt want you doing this and that and satan is love and light and wellness is totally crap. Just a bunch of stupid christians trying to be a satanist, instead are dark christians lol. Theistic satanist they try to make it like christian but it has always been a complete joke. All theistic satanic groups are a joke. Whats more of a joke is that satanic unity crap. Yea unity lol who the fuck cares about unity anyways. True satanism is and always will be underground. Most satanists are lonewolfs too the Real satanists. Well you know what they all say, lonewolfs that also keep their knowledge underground are the most feared of all.

I consider myself just a satanist with no theistic added.

Overall I love this updated blog kindra and well said🖤🤘🏻😈

    1. Thank you for sharing ArcaneShadowWolf. Glad you’re loving it.

I’m glad to see that your eyes are open and that you are not suckered in by the sugar-coated crap. There’s nothing wrong with being a devil worshipper or one that simply acknowledges the Devil as Satan or Lucifer (or both) and gets on with their life without having to make their personal beliefs into a “religious” structure or claims they are a Satanist yet oppose what Satanism is (what LaVey created).

As soon as someone is speaking for your god and telling you what your god likes and dislikes, I say run!

Unity, not even the Wiccans or any neo-pagan groups strive for this impossible and non-constructive notion. Unifying Satanists even those who claim to be theistic is like grouping sheep into a pit of starving wolfs. Those trying to run the show will tear one another apart while those they herded in “unity” will get eaten alive. It’s just another 10 steps backward for those who wish to worship the Devil as Satan. Seems like these types will never learn. I’m glad that I was able to raise my head above ground and breathe the fresh air that allowed my brain to awaken, allowing my eyes to see things from an outsider’s view. Yep, glad that I saved myself from drowning in that cesspool of shit. It’s the blind leading the blind, further down the downward spiral to nowhere.

Thank you again for supporting my blog and sharing your insight, much appreciated (:

      1. Your welcome kindra and yes its ok to be a devil worshipper as long as he/she doesn’t try to dictate others how to practice or pray to satan etc. speaking about unity, satanism is a selfish religion and that totally resonates with me. Unity again like you said its impossible. Really impossible to get everyone respecting and liking eachother. grouping sheeps together in line LOL its so christian. So i have to back up another satanist i dont even like nor he/she has ever respected me? Fuck that lol thats like me following that stupid christian rule do good unto your enemies even if they hurt you, love your enemies LOL! Im good i prefer Laveys way being selfish thevway i’ve always been too and only a small few i actually care about if they’re worth it for me and deserve my full respect. Selfish is satanic, not unity.

  12. Thank You Kindra for articulating so eloquently the sad state Satanism has fallen into. I completely understand and support your eschewing of Theistic Satanism.

I think the rise of social media has actually made things worse when searching for good information. There is now tons of bad info and outright garbage to be sifted through when a newcomer begins seeking their path.

“This new wave of Theistic Satanism is no different than; the Christian sermons they claim to hate. The same speel, omit Jesus and insert Satan.”

Absolutely! I was honestly shocked to see so many preaching like this! Even teaching the shunning of material luxury. For me, Satanism is enjoying life and all of it’s rich fruits and loving being here on the earthly plane.

It also really sickens me when people try to co-opt Satan and other Dark Divinities to push a political agenda. It is so obvious that any form of spiritual belief or practice is considered entirely secondary. It’s all about putting their words in Satan’s mouth.
Do they really think an ancient, primordial deity cares if you go Vegan or if you think gender is a social construct?

Once again, thank you for writing on this!

His insights are deep and I love how he always gives much food for thought. I think he is a wonderful person. I remember when he first posted the Sect of the Horned God website, it has undergone changes since those days but that’s good. He’s one of the few claiming to be LHP, putting themselves out there, that I recommend.
Oh, I removed that page entirely. Too much to list and keep up with. I figure that if people want to know what I recommend, they can keep up with my Instagram, and scroll through my posts. I’ve posted some top books there over the last 2 years and will post more when the mood strikes. People can also check out the biography in the back of the books I write. There they will see not only the books I recommend but also the sources I site for said particular book.

  16. In videos, Thomas said Satan is real, but also symbol. He also said that the gods, monsters, and demons are real, so I got the impression that he’s theistic. You’re in a much better position than me to know what he believes. One thing I like about him is that he actually gives teachings, and his videos are high quality and entertaining.

  17. He means that they are real in the mind of the individual and also as a force. He made it very clear several times, in his videos and elsewhere that Satan and the demons are not sentient beings. In older videos, he even spoke out against Theistic Satanists and has mocked them to a minor extent Lol!
I agree, he lends good teaching and quality content. You’re right, his videos are entertaining.
